John Stagl probably never imagined he would be the one to revolutionize the way doctors record and store patient records. Though he’s now known as the developer of Vascular Sonosoft, his slew of professions over the years range from professional musician and jazz drummer to ballroom dancing instructor and home designer. His tendency to dabble in whatever suited his interest at the moment eventually led him to chiropractic care. As a chiropractor, he had to complete three- to five-page reports on patients. Specifics on the diagnosis and treatment had to be carefully and meticulously completed. Dictating the information dominated too much time, so stacks of incomplete reports piled up.
Stagl knew there had to be an easier, more efficient way to collect and record patient data, so he began development on his first program. He identified his main issues with the current method—repetitiveness and tediousness—and worked on a way to solve these commonly faced problems. Always a designer, Stagl was a stickler for aesthetically pleasing documents, so he also wanted the information to be easily accessible and navigable as well as accurate and detailed.
