There were errors in the biography of Ronald Bush, MD FACS, published in the February/March 2008 Vein Therapy News (VTN). Dr. Bush, who is a member of the VTN Advisory Board, has no affiliation, connection or association with the Vein Centers for Excellence. He is he the medical director of the Midwest Vein and Laser Center and founder of Vein Affiliates. He is also widely known in the field of vascular surgery where his main interest is venous surgery. Dr. Bush was one of the first vascular surgeons to practice venous surgery only starting in 1995. He is board certified in general surgery, vascular surgery and thoracic surgery. Dr. Bush has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from lung cancer, arterial disease and numerous publications on venous disease. He also holds patents on surgical instruments. Surgeons from throughout the world have been trained by Dr. Bush. At last count, more than 500 physicians have visited his clinic in Dayton, Ohio, and he has conducted seminars on venous surgery for more than12 years. He is a member of Vein Affiliates and is in charge of continuing education for this all-surgeon group. Dr. Bush recently climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and still found time to publish five articles in venous disease this year. There was outdated information in the biography of surgeon-teacher Dr. Lowell Kabnick that ran with a news story in the February/March issue of Vein Therapy News (VTN) regarding his joining the VTN advisory board. Dr. Kabnick joined the NYU faculty in 2007 as an Associate Professor and the Director of the NYU Vein Center. He is the founder and was the director of the Vein Institute of New Jersey. At the University of Medicine and Dentristy-New Jersey, Dr. Kabnick was awarded the rank of Associate Clinical Professor. Dr. Kabnick is recognized by his peers as an international authority on the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease. He was the first vascular surgeon in the United States to perform the Closure™ (radiofrequency) procedure and the VenaCure™ (laser) procedure -- two breakthrough technologies for treating the underlying causes of many varicose vein problems. Highly sought after as a consultant and teacher by medical societies the world over, he has consistently recognized as one of the areas “Top Doctors” and is listed in the Guide to “Americas Top Surgeons”.
