Total Vein lowers barrier to entry for laser technology PDF Print E-mail

Total Vein Systems (TVS), a Houston-based medical supply company, is offering a multipurpose surgical diode laser system for less than $20,000.

The Optical Advantage 1500 by Total Vein Systems is a Class IV, solid state system that provides 980 nanometers of laser energy up to 15 watts in pulse or continuous wave modes. The OA-1500 also comes with a fiber hand piece for the treatment of skin lesions and to perform minor surgical procedures.

“These are difficult economic times and physicians who are looking for ways to save money can have confidence in the OA-1500,” TVS co-owner David Centanni said. ”The laser is manufactured in the United States in an ISO 13485 certified facility.

“The low cost of this laser makes the decision to add laser technology or to add a second system to a physician’s practice less difficult, even in today’s financial environment.

“In addition, the OA-1500 uses a standard SMA 905 universal connector, which makes it compatible with a variety of fibers, including reusable fibers.”

Centanni said the unit has an “unheard of” three-year full warranty and a five-year warranty on the diodes. Should the laser need service, Total Vein will overnight a loaner unit as part of its “24-hour turnaround” program.

Weighing just 12 pounds, the OA-1500 has a small footprint of 12.5 inches deep by 9.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches high.
