The fourth Annual Fellows Course in Venous Disease at Englewood Hospital and medical center in Englewood, N.J., will be May 2-4. Founded by Steve Elias, MD, FACS, FACPH, the course will teach young vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists the most up-to-date minimally invasive techniques used to treat vein problems.
Dr. Elias, who is the director of The Centers for Vein Disease at Englewood Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital, began the course in 2005 due to the need for young physicians to learn about the modern management of vein disease. The Center for Vein Disease at Englewood Hospital is widely known for its use of cutting edge techniques that attracts surgeons from across the country. Only 80 trainees are accepted per year.
The Fellows Course in Vein Disease will bring together vascular surgeons that represent some of the nation’s most prestigious teaching facilities. The course is industry supported and continues to grow each year.
Industry partners include: VNUS Medical Technologies, Angiodynamics, BSN Jobst, InaVein, Covidien, Sanofi-Aventis, Cook Medical and Sonosite. The Fellows Course is endorsed by the American Venous Forum and the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Elias’ clinical interests encompass all aspects of vein care: spider veins, varicose veins, perforator and deep venous incompetence, and venous ulcers. He performs all minimally invasive vein procedures, and his work at the Center for Vein Disease includes the prevention and treatment of deep venous thrombosis. He is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon and member of the American Venous Forum, the American College of Phlebology, the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, and the International Society of Cardiovascular Surgery. He is a recipient of the Dardik Research and Education Award.
