VeinViewer Locator guides patients to nearest system PDF Print E-mail
Luminetx Corp. (luminet.com) has launched an online tool to help consumers locate the VeinViewer nearest them, which will help connect these patients more quickly to Luminetx VeinViewer clients. This announcement comes as Luminetx launches its “10 Out of 10 People Prefer Less Pain” campaign.
The VeinViewer, Luminetx’s signature product, is a vascular imaging system that allows physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to clearly see accessible vasculature, veins, (or lack thereof) in real time. The device uses a combination of near-infrared light and patented technologies to image vascular structures and projects their location directly on the surface of the skin.

This provides clinicians with a safe, non-invasive adjunct technology for clinical treatments and procedures including, but not limited to: treatment for varicose and spider veins, IV insertions, PICC line insertions, routine venipuncture (blood sampling), and blood and plasma donations. VeinViewer, now available globally, is used in almost every specialty care area of hospitals, and is quickly making its way to outpatient and private practice settings.
Named the VeinViewer Locator, the online tool allows consumers to visit and input their ZIP code to create a report of health care facilities owning a VeinViewer closest to their geographic position.

According to company officials, Luminetx invested in this functionality to more closely align the needs of the patient with client facilities that have adopted VeinViewer technology as a “better way” to venous access. In a recent study of 100 patients, VeinViewer showed an 80 percent first-stick success rate compared to 49.5 percent without it.

With the tool, consumers can select a “radius in miles” option to further specialize their search. The immediately generated report lists the closest VeinViewer client entities, their addresses, contact information and an Internet map link to each. If no facilities within a search are available, they can download information about VeinViewer and send an e-mail to let their local institution know they want this technology. For the institution that has VeinViewer, this allows new patient referrals to find their way to their doors.

“In some cases, we have seen patients willing to travel hours to have VeinViewer be a part of their care,” said Rodney Schutt, COO of Luminetx. “Ask a parent who has had to bear watching their child receive multiple attempts or even ask the parent how they feel about receiving the same. Even with the best of clinical skills and a healthy patient, VeinViewer is still a key improvement to patient care and satisfaction.” VTN
